Hi Superstars, It’s Magi Helena. A lot of you have asked me for some of my secrets for staying inspired and positive during difficult times. I’m going to tell you how you can feel better, even when times are tough, in this video.
I’m the only woman, and one of only 2 Certified Level IV Magi Astrologers (the highest level) and I’ve helped thousands of people across the US and in 40 countries around the world to understand how to use science-based astrology to help them achieve love and success.
So this video isn’t about astrology. It more draws on my years of working as a counselor and support group facilitator, before I went full-time into astrology. I learned so much in those years that helped me, and so much that can help other people too. I want to help you feel good during challenging times.
My first secret to staying inspired is gratitude. I count my blessings at least once a day. Granted, all these years of using Science-Based Astrology in my own life has brought me the love and success of my dreams, so I have a lot to be grateful for. But even when life is throwing you major challenges, you need to cultivate gratitude as an attitude! It’s a way of thinking that you can make a daily habit for yourself, and it always helps you see the good. If you have food, shelter and clothing, you’re ahead of the game compared to much of humanity, so you can always start there.
My second secret is focus. I focus on what I love, what I appreciate, what brings joy. I focus on the positive. This is a deliberate choice! What I say partially in jest is that the pessimist and the realist are both depressed, that’s why I’m an optimist. The only way to do your life, to get up and do it every day, is to develop relentless optimism. You can!
My third secret is beliefs. Whether you realize or not, you CHOOSE what you believe in. So it makes a lot of sense to choose beliefs which bring you happiness and inner peace. I believe in God, that God is benevolent, and that there is meaning and purpose to life. I believe in miracles, in grace, in beauty, in nobility of spirit, in heroism. I hope. I believe in the power in laughter and in tears of joy. I believe that we all are here for a reason. I believe that most people are good and doing the best they can. I believe that we can all learn, grow, heal and evolve. I believe that karma rights all wrongs by replacing ignorance with understanding. I believe that light will always triumph over darkness and evil. These beliefs help me feel good inside.
My fourth secret is carefully watching my inputs. I notice what makes me feel positive and upbeat and what makes me feel depressed and negative. I notice my responses to people, to social media, to the internet, to news, videos, books, blogs, movies and TV. If a source of input is too upsetting, I remove it from my life. This does not mean I ignore painful or difficult facts. It only means I choose inputs which allow me to understand the facts: to understand without manipulating my emotions, to understand without making me feel it’s hopeless, to understand the facts along with ideas for solutions. Not only do I avoid negative inputs and people, but I deliberately seek out inputs and people that illuminate me, that inspire me, and give me hope. Feed yourself with stories of love, redemption, bravery and kindness.
My fifth secret is prayer. I pray every morning as I’m waking up, and every night as I’m falling asleep. Sometimes I just pray my gratitude. Sometimes I ask the Angels for things I want, help that I need or clarity on a situation. Sometimes I do manifestation work. Every day I pray for my clients, customers, friends, family, and the world. I consciously send out Light. Not only does this do good in the world, but it brings more Light into my own consciousness too.
My sixth secret is equality. I worked hard to overcome my low self-esteem and to ultimately become someone I can be proud to be. But I worked equally hard to NOT be someone who is arrogant or thinks they are better than other people. Feeling that you are naturally, automatically, inherently equal to everyone else is very freeing – it frees you from all the competition, it frees you from envy, and just lets you focus on being your best self.
My seventh secret is compassion. When you stop judging and instead cultivate compassion, all of life looks better. You are released from your anger and your frustration and instead you empathize with the pain and trauma that can lie under the ignorant choices people make. I don’t mean to let people hurt you, or even to keep hurtful people around you, but just stop playing judge and jury. Keep good boundaries, but let karma be the judge. Remember, don’t forget, but DO forgive. Live and let live.
My eighth secret is giving back. Do good deeds, the Universe is always watching. Give in ways large and small. Become the good you want to see in the world. Restore hope to someone, and you’ll find that due to the Universal law of cause and effect, you’ll restore hope to yourself too. Smile, be patient, be kind. Hold a door for a mom with a baby or a senior. Let someone get in front of you on the freeway. See people as your brothers and sisters, not as adversaries. Don’t hoard – be generous. If you think there is enough good for all, there is!
My ninth secret is self-care. There is no one who is more motivated to take care of you than you. Self-care has to be a DIY thing. If you want to feel good emotionally, you have to try to feel your best physically. When in balance, your body is not only a computer, a vehicle for getting around, and a machine for doing things, but it’s also a tuning fork for very subtle energies from both Earth and Sky. Get enough sleep, get moderate exercise, eat healthy, break out some quiet time for yourself, if you want to feel positive.
My tenth secret is letting go. I learn from, then let go of, my own mistakes. I learn from, then let go of, other people’s mistakes. I let go of people who drag me down. I let go of attitudes and beliefs which don’t bring goodness and light. I work to continually let go of my failures, my resentments, my griefs, my judgment – to let go of everything which doesn’t serve the greatest good for all.
I didn’t come into this incarnation as someone who was naturally happy. I had to learn the habits of thinking, feeling and behavior which sets the stage to be happy, despite what might be going on all around me. It takes time to decide on new habits and to practice them enough for them to become your natural way of being. But if I could do it, you can. Today, in this moment, you have the power to decide to make positive changes. Today, you have the power to begin to embrace attitudes and actions which can help you get inspired and stay inspired. You can’t control the world and you can’t control other people. But you can make your inner world a positive and happy place to live.
