Retrogrades are not what you think!
As viewed from Earth (Geocentric astrology) planets periodically appear to slow down and begin to move in reverse. After several weeks or months, the planet then appears to slow down and begin to move in forward motion. Since planets don’t actually slam on the brakes and switch gears, this is an apparent phenomenon only due to the fact that Earth is not at the center of our solar system. As viewed from Sun (Heliocentric astrology) planets are always in forward motion.
The retrograde most people are aware of is Mercury retrograde, and lots of people are positive that the computer glitches and miscommunications they experience during Mercury retrograde are CAUSED by Mercury retrograde. It’s a very chic topic. And of course, the popular advice is, “never sign anything during Mercury retrograde.”
Let’s focus on facts. Is there any Mercury Retrograde proof? Is there any science behind it? Does anyone actually record any data on the numbers of typos, computer issues, miscommunications, etc. which happen during Mercury retrograde vs. the same things happening while Mercury is direct?
The short answer is NO.
Mercury retrograde is very effective “clickbait,” but I don’t think getting people to worry unnecessarily is doing good in the world. Let me DEBUNK retrograde-phobia here and now.
Retrogrades are NORMAL. With new planets added to the minimum set for accurate astrology, now, it’s unlikely that there are ANY days in a year without at least one or more retrograde. Jupiter is retrograde 3-4 months a year. Neptune about 5 months a year. And so on. On most days, there are at least 4 planets in retrograde.
First of all, retrogrades in general have never been PROVEN to be detrimental. In actual fact, statistical research has shown conclusively that planets in retrograde can actually be MORE powerful and helpful in natal charts and natalization charts than planets in direct motion. Not always, there are a few exceptions, but much of the time.
When you prove something statistically that makes it a scientific fact. One or two, or even ten, stories you might have heard about Mercury retrograde is not the same as statistical proof. And if it can’t be proven, it’s just a belief, without any basis in fact. Do you really want to hold a negative belief, and operate under a negative belief, which isn’t even true? Isn’t letting go of negative limiting beliefs which don’t serve us, what we’re all trying to do?
The idea that you should avoid Mercury retrograde is really just an attempt to get some help from the Universe. And that’s a great idea, the only problem is, Mercury retrograde doesn’t, in fact, work the way you might have thought.
There is really only one kind of generalized one-size-fits-all advice for people who want to get some help from the Universe to achieve their dreams: use Magi Astrology Best and Worst Days. These are the best and worst days for each month chosen using the proven principles of science-based astrology. See them here: https://magihelena.com/magi-best-worst-days/
But just using general best and worst days alone isn’t really enough, it’s just too limited in terms of how much help you can really get from it. If you REALLY want to use the power of the stars to achieve love and success and avoid heartbreak and failure you ALSO need to use your PERSONAL transits, or cycles, to discover when your own best windows of opportunity will open, and when challenges and obstacles are more likely.

Using the general best & worst days, combined with your own personal best & worst days, is FAR more powerfully important and directly helpful to you than unsubstantiated retrograde-phobia.
DO double-check important stuff, keep your computer and devices backed up and verify plans. These are ALWAYS good ideas.
DO move ahead in making decisions and signing important documents IF AND ONLY IF your personal cycles and the day itself are both excellent.
DO put Retrograde-Phobia where it belongs, with the 2012 ending of the Mayan Calendar and 2000’s Y2K.
DON’T spread the Retrograde-Phobia any further. This doesn’t help anyone.
And DON’T worry. Relax…… Retrogrades are frequent, unavoidable, and can actually help you!
