Transcript: Hey there Superstars, it’s Magi Helena. So here’s a topic that really gets people posting on social media: Mercury Retrograde. What should you do when Mercury is retrograde? I’m going to tell you in this video.

OK, there are lots of people who are positive that the computer glitches and miscommunications they experience during Mercury retrograde are CAUSED by Mercury retrograde. It’s a very chic topic these days. And of course, the popular advice is, “never sign anything during Mercury retrograde.”
But is there any proof? Is there any science behind it? Does anyone actually record any data on the numbers of typos, computer issues, miscommunications, etc. which happen during Mercury retrograde vs. the same things happening while Mercury is direct?
Also, what about other planetary retrogrades? Why does no one seem to panic during other retrogrades? Jupiter is retrograde 3-4 months a year. Neptune about 5 months a year. And so on. In 2019, there are only 41 days in the WHOLE YEAR with no planetary retrogrades at all. On most days, there are at least 4 planets in retrograde.
So, let’s ask ourselves, if Mercury retrograde is really a kiss of death, wouldn’t there be some evidence of this when we look at charts? Let’s see if we can find any.
Both western astrology beliefs and Magi Astrology research agree that Mercury rules thinking and quick wits, self-expression, written and spoken communication, acting, and co-rules of singing, computers, and travel.
So, if we have a hypothesis that Mercury retrograde destroys Mercury-ruled things, when we look for evidence of this, we would expect to see that we would not find Mercury in retrograde in the charts of people, companies and products which are super-successful in Mercury-ruled areas. I did just that, and here’s what I found…
Let’s start with some famous people born with Mercury retrograde who’ve been very successful in Mercury areas. Again, these are: thinking and quick wits, self-expression, written and spoken communication, acting, singing, computers, and travel.

How could these products be so phenomenally successful and even iconic if Mercury retrograde destroys communications, computers and travel?
In fact, all of these people, companies, and products are ESPECIALLY talented and successful in Mercury-ruled fields and all have Mercury retrograde in their natal charts. So how could Mercury retrograde REALLY be a deal-breaker in these areas of life?
This short look at Mercury retrograde isn’t the same as broad statistical proof. But it does open the question, can Mercury retrograde really be shown to have a demonstrable negative effect over Mercury-ruled things?
Now let’s look at what HAS been proven about Mercury retrograde. First of all, retrogrades in general have never been PROVEN to be detrimental. In actual fact, statistical research has shown conclusively that planets in retrograde can actually be MORE powerful and helpful in natal charts and natalization charts than planets in direct motion. Not always, there are a few exceptions, but much of the time.
When you prove something statistically that makes it a scientific fact. One or two, or even ten, stories you might have heard about Mercury retrograde is not the same as statistical proof. And if it can’t be proven, it’s just a belief, without any basis in fact. Do you really want to hold a negative belief, and operate under a negative belief, which isn’t even true? Isn’t letting go of negative limiting beliefs which don’t serve us, what we’re all trying to do?
When you think about it, the idea that you should avoid Mercury retrograde is really just an attempt to have some advice in your life. It’s just an attempt to get some help from the Universe. And that’s a great idea, the only problem is, Mercury retrograde doesn’t, in fact, work the way you might have thought.

So, what should you do when Mercury is retrograde?

DO put Mercury Retrograde-Phobia where it belongs, with the 2012 ending of the Mayan Calendar and 2000’s Y2K.
DON’T spread the Mercury Retrograde phobia any further. This doesn’t help anyone.
And DON’T worry. Relax…… Retrogrades are frequent, unavoidable, and can actually help you!
