What is the Great Conjunction?
Jupiter and Saturn, the two outermost planets visible to the naked eye, will be together in the sky. This conjunction is special because not only are Jupiter and Saturn conjunct around the zodiac wheel, but they are ALSO parallel. Parallel means that these two planets are also both at same number of degrees above or below the celestial equator. Did you know that aspects in the “vertical” dimension are every bit as important and impactful as aspects around the zodiac wheel?
It’s Really an Eclipse
In scientific astrology, when two planets are both conjunct AND parallel each other, we call this an “eclipse.” An eclipse is much rarer than a simple conjunction and is about 4-6 times as powerful as a conjunction.
It’s Only in Geo
The Great Conjunction is occurring in Geocentric Astrology (Earth-centered, as seen from Earth.) Heliocentric Astrology (Sun-centered, as “seen” from Sun) is equally important and powerful! However, we did not have a Jupiter-Saturn eclipse in Helio in 2020: Jupiter was parallel Saturn in the Helio Latitudes on March 26, 2020, but Jupiter wasn’t conjunct Saturn until Nov. 2, 2020.
When Does it Peak?
The Great Conjunction is most powerful on December 21, 2020, which is the day the conjunction portion of the eclipse peaks in the sky. The parallel portion peaks 4 days later on December 25, Christmas Day. By then, with the conjunction separating and weakening in its influence, it will have lost its power as an eclipse.
How Will it Affect You?
It’s just not true that a cosmic event will affect everyone similarly. You and your chart are unique! Some people could be dramatically affected; some will experience little impact. Here are 5 groups who will experience the Great Conjunction the most:
People now in their Saturn return in the Geocentric Longitudes:
Birth dates (somewhat approximate, may vary by a day or two depending on the time you were born):
1932: Jan. 13 – Feb. 29.
1961: Feb. 17 – Aug. 9 and Nov. 14 – Dec. 31.
1962: Jan. 1 – Jan. 9.
1990: Apr. 15 – May 25 and Dec. 27 – Dec. 31.
1991: Jan. 1 – Feb. 11.
This group is receiving/ has received powerful benefits as Jupiter applies by conjunction to their natal Saturn. Jupiter linkage transits to Saturn are one of the most helpful transits a person can EVER have! Let this transit help you improve every area of your life.
People whose natal Saturn is in these current degrees in the Geocentric Declinations:
There are way too many dates/years to list for this group, but if your natal Saturn lives approximately between 20.32° and 21.36° North OR South Declination, you belong here. This group is receiving/ has received powerful benefits as Jupiter applies by parallel or contra-parallel to their natal Saturn. Jupiter linkage transits to Saturn are one of the most helpful transits a person can EVER have! Let this transit help you improve every area of your life.
People whose Sun is getting or has gotten a Jupiter linkage transit:
People born approximately between these dates in any year: (Varies by a few days year-to-year)
Jan. 16-23
May 16-23
June 16-23
Sept. 17-24
This group is receiving/ has received powerful benefits as Jupiter applies by trine or quincunx to their natal Saturn. Jupiter linkage transits to Saturn are one of the most helpful transits a person can EVER have! Let this transit help you improve every area of your life.
People whose Sun is getting or has gotten a Jupiter clash transit:
People born approximately between these dates in any year: (Varies by a few days year-to-year)
April 15-22
July 16-23
Oct. 17-24
This group is receiving/ has received energy from Jupiter too, but it isn’t altogether helpful. Jupiter never gets really ugly, even when in stressful geometry, but it can create a few issues. One if the key issues is lack of moderation. You may be making something too big or important, or conversely, minimizing something too much. Try for a clear and balanced viewpoint and to keep your choices and actions moderate.
People who start a new initiative or have a first meeting with someone new:
For everyone: If and only if your personal cycles REALLY rock, the peak days of the Great Conjunction, Dec. 20-21, could be fabulous days to start something new or meet someone new. You would be harnessing the powerfully helpful energy of Jupiter applying to Saturn by eclipse.
Remember, to really leverage the power of the Universe to help you achieve love and success, there’s a lot to consider before you choose a date for something super-important such as getting married or starting a new business.
